Essential information for festive season

Sefton Council will provide limited services throughout Christmas and New Year. However, the council wants to remind residents there is support available in an emergency. Please see below for the relevant details. 

  • Vulnerable residents that find themselves in a no heat situation may be able to access a plug-in oil-filled radiator as a temporary heating source, until the Affordable Warmth Team can help further in the new year.  To access an oil filled radiator please contact Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service on 0151 530 2625.
  • If you smell gas or think you have a gas emergency please call the free Gas Emergency Services line immediately – 0800 111 999
  • Should your supply be lost unexpectedly please call SP Networks Emergency number – 0800 001 5400 (from a landline) 0330 1010 400
  • United Utilities Emergency contact number (no water or burst supply pipe)  – 0345 672 3723
  • Information on many services, including checking bin collections, applying for licences, reporting environmental issues or paying Council Tax and business rates, can still be accessed on the council website 24-hours a day via sefton.gov.uk
  • An automated phone service on 0345 140 0845 will be in place from December 24th 2020 – January 3rd 2021.
  • Emergency contacts on December 24th, 29th, 30th, and 31st between 9am and 5:30pm: Children’s Social Care – 0151 909 1206
  • Adult Social Care – 0151 909 1523
  • For Social Care emergencies at all other times call the Emergency Duty Team – 0151 934 3555
  • If you require emergency Covid-19 support, please call 0345 140 0845 between 10am to 3pm on 24th 29th 30th 31st December 2020, and 2nd and 3rd January 2021.
