Do you live in Sefton and have an interest in speaking up on behalf of others?
Is it important to you to make sure NHS health and care services work for everyone?
Sefton’s independent health consumer champion – Healthwatch Sefton – has three exciting volunteer roles and wants to hear from people who love talking with others in their community about using health and care services.
Healthwatch is looking for three people interested in representing the following areas: Seaforth and Litherland; Hightown and Ince; and Formby. As a volunteer, you would be acting as a point of contact for residents living in your local area and letting Healthwatch Sefton know of any issues local residents have when using health and social care services.
Anne Major volunteers as the Central Southport Locality Representative and explains why she decided to take up the role: “As a retired midwife, I am always reminded that without clients, patients, and families, my job would not have existed. This role enables me to support a pro-active organisation that understands health and social care through the eyes of patients and carers.”
While Kevin Halewood, who represents Crosby on behalf of Healthwatch, adds: “I have a strong personal interest in health – particularly mental health – and wanted to give something back and hopefully be a voice for my local area. I was volunteering to deliver medication to the vulnerable and thought there was no better time to volunteer for Healthwatch and be of assistance to residents during, and post, Covid-19.”
Among other specific duties, the volunteers are expected to attend virtual steering group and community champion network meetings, promote Healthwatch Sefton’s aims and objectives, and help build effective relationships.
Diane Blair, manager of Healthwatch Sefton, comments: “We are really pleased to offer these volunteering opportunities and look forward to hearing from people with an interest in making sure local voices are heard by those delivering health and care services.”
The closing date is Saturday, October 31, 2020 and to find out how to apply visit https://healthwatchsefton.co.uk/get-involved/
