Sefton switches on to a bright Christmas

Festive fun is just around the corner as town and village centres across Sefton get ready to switch on their 2019 Christmas lights.

Following the recent Constellations event in Crosby, Sefton will shine yet again with Christmas themed events taking place in numerous locations throughout the borough, with a range of festive fun for all the family.

The events – starting with the Southport BID Christmas Lights Switch On tomorrow (Sunday) –  are delivered through a number of different ways including partnerships between business communities, local residents, voluntary and charity organisations, and Sefton Council.

Funding is secured through the private, voluntary and public sector to encourage people to shop local in the run up to Christmas.

A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “Christmas lights switch-ons always prove to be popular events and are a great opportunity for local people and families to get into the festive spirit.

“We hope plenty of people will come out and support their local traders in the run up to Christmas and shop local, and we are very grateful for the hard work and community spirit which goes into these important events.”

Southport BID Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on Sunday November 17 from 1pm, with Lord Street boulevard and the Atkinson being lit up in a festive glow from 5.30pm.

Other locations include:

Crosby Village – November 22 (6pm)
Thornton – November 22 (6:45pm)
