Two special events are being held in Sefton to mark national Volunteers’ Week celebrations.
Volunteer’s Week, which takes place in the first week of June each year, pays tribute to the hard work of volunteers across the country, without whom many organisations would be unable to provide valuable services in their local communities.
On Wednesday 5th June Volunteer Centre Sefton will be hosting a volunteer drop-in event at Southport Library in the Atkinson Arts Centre on Lord Street, from 10am until 4pm.
Volunteer Centre staff will be on hand to talk to residents about the benefits of volunteering, how to get involved and what roles are available locally.
Then on Friday 7th June the focus switches to the south of the borough with a volunteering fair at Bootle Strand Shopping Centre from 10am until 3pm.
Members of the public can come along and speak to representatives from a range of local good causes, who will be talking about the exciting volunteer roles they have to offer.
Our Volunteer Fair at Bootle Strand will also be in partnership with Sefton Community Markets, who hold an indoor market at the Shopping Centre every Friday. They are kindly providing the tables that we will be using for our stalls, so while you are finding out about volunteering, you might also be able to pick up a bargain or two!
There is such a range of volunteering opportunities out there, but many people don’t know where to start in terms of pursuing them. These events will provide the perfect opportunity for you to find out more.
There are also so many benefits to volunteering: from meeting new people and making new friends to boosting your confidence and improving your employability.
