The Macmillan Navigators team from Sefton CVS are supporting this summer’s Macmillan Mile at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre and want to encourage people to get involved. Make a note of the following information and save the date!
What? MACMILLAN MILE – walk a mile around Crosby Marina and surrounding gardens with views as far as the eye can see. The route is flat and everyone is encouraged to walk at their own pace.
Where? The start and finish will be on the grassed area outside the entrance to Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre (dry side entrance near the children’s park).
When? Tuesday 9th July 6pm start.
Why? Many cancer patients are encouraged to take part in physical activity before, during and following treatment to help reduce reoccurrence, provide social engagement opportunities and to support their mental wellbeing. However there are very few opportunities to take part in structured and supported exercise and physical activity. We are hosting this event because it is a short, achievable distance, instead of the likes of a 5k which may not be an option for some!
Who? This event is open to anyone directly or indirectly affected by cancer; patients, family members, friends, health professionals, community groups and those wanting to volunteer on the day! Sefton’s Walking for Health team have helped us to plan the route and will support the day with their walking volunteers. Crosby parkrun are also very interesting in attending to provide support on the day. Children and dogs are welcome to attend (dogs must be kept on a tight lead throughout the walk).
People don’t need to register – everyone is encouraged just to turn up.
