Local NHS commissioners confirm governing body meeting dates

Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Sefton are inviting residents to come along to their first governing body meetings of 2019.

NHS Southport and Formby CCG will hold its meeting on Wednesday 6 February and NHS South Sefton CCG will then hold its meeting on Thursday 7 February.

The CCGs in Sefton hold their governing body meetings in public every two months to discuss and agree their work. The governing bodies make decisions about the CCGs’ work on behalf of all the GP practices who are ‘members’ of the organisation.

The meetings are open to members of the public who may be interested in listening to doctors, nurses and other health professionals discussing the performance of local health services, such as hospitals and community care. Attendees may also be able to ask questions before the meeting formally starts.

Dr Rob Caudwell, local GP and NHS Southport and Formby CCG chair, said: “These meetings are a great way to find out more about what’s happening locally and it’s always nice to meet residents who take an interest in local services.”

Dr Craig Gillespie, local GP and NHS South Sefton CCG interim chair, added: “We always welcome anyone who wants to know more about their local NHS to come along and participate in the meetings.”

NHS Southport and Formby CCG meets at the Family Life Centre on Ash Street in Southport at 1pm on the first Wednesday of the month. NHS South Sefton CCG meets at Merton House on Stanley Road in Bootle at 1pm on the first Thursday of the month.

You can find a full list of forthcoming governing body dates on each CCG’s website, along with papers that are made available shortly before each meeting takes place. Visit NHS Southport and Formby CCG  and NHS south Sefton CCG
