Armed Forces Day will be celebrated in Sefton with special flags flown at Bootle and Southport Town Halls.
Each year Armed Forces Day is held as an opportunity for residents to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.
The Armed Forces Day Flag will be flown from Bootle and Southport Town Halls until Monday July 2nd.
Although the day itself takes place on Saturday June 30th, a special series of events will be held outside Southport Town Hall on Sunday July 1st from 10am, hosted by the Sefton Branch of the SSAFA.
The Mayor of Sefton will be present at Southport Town Hall to oversee a Drumhead Service and Parade before SSAFA launch a day-long programme of events in the town centre.
Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Dave Robinson, said: “Armed Forces Day is a great way to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.
“It also gives us all an opportunity to show support for the men and women who make up the entire Armed Forces community.
“I would like to ask as many people as possible across the borough to take note of this special day and remember some of the real heroes in our society.”
