Nominations are now open for the 2018 Sefton Sports Awards!

The Sefton Sports Awards will take place at Southport Theatre and Convention Centre on 11th July 2018. The awards are a fantastic opportunity to reward the hard work and dedication of local sports clubs, schools, teams and individuals. Nominations for the 2018 Sefton Sports Awards are open! Sefton Council are looking for clubs from across the borough to send in their nominations across a range of categories before June 8 2018.

Award Categories

Volunteer of the Year
Presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution behind the scenes
to their sport/club/school. Club officer, committee member, fundraiser, administrator, coach, or official.

Young Volunteer of the Year – 14–19 years old
Presented to an individual who has made a contribution behind the scenes
to their sport/club/school.

School of the Year
Two awards: Primary and Secondary.

This award will be presented to the school that:

  • Has a commitment to the development of pupils and staff
  • Provides a comprehensive range of activities for its members and supports the development of players, coaches & volunteers of all ages and abilities.
  • Can demonstrate achievement/success in the Award Year
  • Can demonstrate a contribution to the wider community

Sports Personality of the Year
Five awards: Male, Female, Junior Male (under 18), Junior Female (under 18) & Disabled
Presented to an individual in recognition of their commitment and achievement to their chosen sport. Nominees should have achieved a high standard of performance for example at local, regional and national standard.

Club of the Year
Presented to a club which:
Has a well-established management structure, can demonstrate achievement/success in the Award Year and provides a comprehensive range of activities for its members and supports the development of players, coaches & volunteers of all ages and abilities. NB: A club cannot win this category for two consecutive years.

Coach of the Year
Presented to a coach/ team manager in recognition of their involvement,
dedication and achievement within their chosen sport. Must be a volunteer. Professional Coaches or paid coaches will be ineligible to win the award.

Team of the Year
Presented to a team who achieved outstanding success over the year.

School Team of the Year
Presented to a team who achieved outstanding success over the year.

Supporter of the Year
Presented to an employer that has shown commitment to sport within the community.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Presented to an individual who has provided an outstanding service to sport.
